I started playing GW at release. You know prophecies release. I played for a while, I think I racked up close to 700 hours by the end of the summer of release. I played a R/Anything (^_^) and a Wamo. Both level 20.

Anyways, then I quit, started playing a bunch of other junk, and my friend's been bugging me to come back. So I reinstalled prophecies and turns out my mate deleted my characters- I don't mind that much though, it'll probably be more fun starting from scratch (Lost my black armor dye though. Shit was cheap back in the day. Used to be no more than 600 gold).

Anything I should know? I was thinking of picking up Factions sometime. I've only got like, $45 left over from my birthday. (Damn music is expensive -_-). Factions is around $20-30 now? I'm rolling a W/N at the moment.

IMO pick up NF, NF was much better than factions and will provide you with heroes.

They have heroes now. They are like customizable henchmen. They have access to any skill unlocked on your account and you can flag them anywhere on the map, control their skill use, or just let them run on autopilot. They can also use runes and weapons.

You might want to consider getting Nightfall (campaign that introduced heroes) or the expansion to Guild Wars, Eye of North (has heroes too).

On the otherhand, if you like fairly unstructured PVP, Factions lets you play in Alliance Battles which a lot of people enjoy playing.

I think you should get everything eventually, but start in this order:

Nightfall
Faction
EOTN

Buy Nightfall first to get Heroes. You'll need them for custom builds and control that you just cant get out of regular henchies. Then after finishing Nightfall, move on to Factions and EOTN. The reason being is that you'll probably be soloing a large part of those games and having Heroes will help you alot when you cant find a party to join (lots of dead town in Factions PvE **crickets**churp churp**). Hell, I breezed thru 95% of Faction with two Hero MMs a Hero Bonder and henchies. I'm currently working on EOTN, and even though the player base is good, I find that most people solo with heroes and henchies except for the harder parts of the game or for farming teams.

if u use the ingame store...you can buy Eye of the North for regular price then get 50% off of all other campaigns.

Doesn't matter. Around NF release, dye was redone and now it's more vivid. Black is blacker, red is redder, etc. but the change wasn't retroactive. Meaning you would have had to redye it anyway.

This contains all you need to know. Accessible ingame via the "/wiki <search text here>" command.

Np. NF is probably better to get than Factions because NF caused a lot of powercreep, meaning NF has better skills. GW:EN has good money via dungeons as well, but most people tend to get bored of it quickly because it's so much grind. So I'd say NF first, then if you're poor GW:EN, then Factions.

That part isn't true, there is grind if you want to max titles, but if you just want to play, there is no grind involved. If you want 15k armor, you beat the game, turn in a hero handbook and you are able to get the armor. If you want to get armor from two different factions, you can pay (only one time) to have the hand book refilled and turn it into a second faction to get your allegiance up high enough to get their armor also. If you want 15k armor from multiple factions, then there is some grind involved. The paying to get a book refilled costs a little over one platinum and you get that money back and more when you turn it in.

Tough call. If money was not a problem, I'd say that, unless you want to play a para or a derv, start with Factions. It has the fastest leveling up, since you're already somewhat familiar with how to play the game. Then, once you get to Kaineng Center (where you can travel to Elona) and hit level 20, get NF, take your char over there and start collecting your heroes.

If you can only afford one campaign (and since you say you're rolling a wammo, anyway) go ahead and get NF.

I was thinking it might be most economical for me to purchase the cheapest game out, (Which would be Factions?) and then just ask for the others for Christmas. (Getting a job is hard. No one hires 14 year olds. Uncool

)

-Oh, in case it might change what game I should get, I loved presearing's environment, thought it was beautiful, hated the jungle and the mountains (In the center of the map on Tyria). I thought the crystal desert was nice, except for those damn buggers that popped out of the ground.

If you liked pre-searing, get Factions. Newbie isle is similar and so is the Jade Sea for Luxons. The city is kind of lame and I like the Petrified Forest that the Kurzick side has.

Kaineng City is absolutely dreadful. If you don't have a proper graphics card you'll be like me: running around with 4 fps and 300 ping. (Still hasn't stopped me from getting Masters though...)
But the Echovald Forest, Jade Sea, and even newbie island are fairly nice places to look at.
Of course, I'd still recommend getting NightFall first. Heroes make everything worlds easier. ie/ Right now I am rolling through the 20 level NF content and missions with a currently level 13 Ele, and I'd be willing to bet a fair chunk of money that it's accountable to the fact I'm running a minion bomber, aka EVERYTHING THAT COMES NEAR ME DIES. I mean, my hero monks (1 prot, 1 heal) both have ~35 energy, they're not even level 20, but the minions absorb so much damage (and then deal oodles of it back when they die themselves) that my hero monk's terrible energy management isn't even a concern.

I'd say get NF.
